I am a National Board Certified and Florida Licensed Acupuncturist with more than 30 years of experience as an Acupuncturist, Herbologist, and Oriental Medical Doctor in both China and the United States.

I received my trainings in both Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine from Yangzhou Medical School under Professor Wei Wang. After graduating in 1986, I practiced Traditional Chinese Medicine and internal medicine at a TCM hospital in my hometown for 20 years.

During this time, I met Dr. Qian, a famous Traditional Chinese Medicine master with over 50 years of clinical experience. After an official tea ceremony, I was taken in as his only apprentice. As a 师 (shi “skilled person”) 傅 (fu “tutor” and “father”), Dr. Qian not only selflessly shared all his experience with me, but also took care of me like his own daughter.

In careers, there are always times when you feel like you are hitting a glass ceiling. In my years of practices, I had moments like that as well. To break those unseen barriers and bring more advanced practice to her patients at home, I went to Beijing for advanced studies in both cardiology and acupuncture at China’s most prestigious hospitals – China-Japan Friendship Hospital and Dongzhimen Hospital.

After moving to the U.S. with my family, I wanted to continue helping patients, as well as introduce authentic Traditional Chinese Medicine to people in the U.S.. I attended the Florida College of Integrative Medicine in Orlando, FL to learn about the differences between Chinese patients and American patients (their expectations, needs, etc), as well as, medical culture and regulation of the U.S.. I then received a Masters degree in Health Sciences and Oriental Medicine.

Traditional Chinese Medicine is one of the oldest holistic medical system available today with a continuous clinical history. To never stay out of touch with the development of Traditional Chinese Medicine in mainland China, whenever I visited family and friends in China, I never missed opportunities to observe and learn the latest techniques or theories by visiting my home hospital and other TCM hospitals across China.

Before the introduction of western medicine to China in the 19th century, Chinese people solely used Traditional Chinese Medicine to prevent and treat illnesses. Today, the healthcare system of China provides dual tracks for patients: Western Medicine and Traditional Medicine. I’ve seen so many patients benefiting tremendously from it. I hope through my practice, more and more people in America could also benefit from this ancient yet living medicine.

I have always had a curiosity about how the humane body works, which drove me to study biochemistry for my undergraduate and graduate studies. My previous research topic focused on studying the impacts of diabetes and strokes in rat models in terms of behavior tests, molecular pathways, and specimen analysis. During this time, I made an interesting observation about the effects of self-healing abilities on rats. For example, there were certain percentage of stroke rats can dissolve the blood clot without using tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) and diabetic-induced rats sometimes can reverse their diabetic status without any other interventions. This observation led me to wonder on the topic of how such effects occur. After some research, I found out that Traditional Chinese Medicine is based on the principle to facilitate the self-healing abilities by restoring body’s natural balance. This principle and many other testimonials led me further to the study of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

After being certified to practice acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, I took advanced studies in facial acupuncture. Facial expressions serve as a vehicle to convey our internal thoughts and emotions to the outside world, as well as helping the outside world to understand us. Traditional Chinese Medicine is based on the principle that health is manifested from the inside out, therefore the holistic approach will not only revitalize the look locally, but also help you sleep better, digest better, and feel better.

I believe that we enter the world every day, our body and mind help us make sense of our experiences whether it is made consciously or unconsciously. The balance between our body and mind is that core, which empowers us to live up to our full potentials. Acupuncture may be that powerful tool for you to help restore your body’s natural harmony.
